Troubleshoot a phone that doesn’t charge or turn on

Follow these procedures first before sending your phone in for repair.
Everyone is encouraged to use this manual. Simple actions and fundamental troubleshooting are involved.

  1. Visually examine the phone’s charging wire with your eyes. Check the cord for any kinks or tears that might be preventing your phone from charging.
  2. Visually examine the charging port of the phone visually. Verify that the charging port is not blocked. To view inside the charge port, you might need a magnifying glass and excellent lighting. If you store your phone in a bag or pocket, dirt and debris might accumulate in the port, making it challenging to establish a strong connection. Make sure the charging cable is seated completely, but if it is being blocked, do not force the cable in. On devices which have micro usb connector the pins could also be bent. If the pins are bent or missing in the port stop and take your phone in for a professional to have a look.
  3. Try a different cable. Simply put, we want to be sure that the cable is not bad or the cause of the problem. After all, we constantly plug in and out of our charge cables, which wears down the cable. Cables can suffer damage from bending and twisting over time. Despite their exterior appearance, they could have inside damage. It’s best to try another cable; if you don’t have one, you can always ask a friend or member of your family for one.
  4. Verify your source of power. Try another source or port just to be sure, whether you are using a wall adapter, power bank, computer or laptop USB port. If the actual source of power cannot supply power, no matter how many cables you attempt, your phone will not charge. Additionally, the source you are utilizing can be flawed.
  5. Check to see if your phone is charging in any way. The smartphone will typically display an indicator on the screen or a charge light when it is charging. Sometimes the smartphone may appear to be charging when it isn’t because the screen is broken.
  6. Let it charge. Yes, leave it plugged into the charger and let it charge for awhile, in particular with Apple devices. Even after being charged, they can take a very long time to start. Give your device at least 30 minutes, and if it has been idle or dead for some time, even more.
  7. Attempt a hard reset. Therefore, it’s possible that your phone is charged but having trouble turning on. Give it a hard rest. On smartphones, this is typically accomplished by holding a combination of buttons for 30 seconds. To learn how to reset your phone, consult the user manual for your device.

If you’ve tried the aforementioned methods, your battery or charging port might be faulty. I say this because some devices, even when connected in to external power, will still operate even if the battery is dead, while other devices, on the other hand, function the other way around.
